Over the next several weeks inside Behind the Drapes, we’re diving deeper into one of my favorite layers of personal style—the energetic code behind how we dress, decorate, and even carry ourselves.

Each of us holds a unique style identity that is deeply rooted in either yin or yang energy. It’s not about gender—it’s about the energetic expression that naturally radiates from you. Your personal style identity is made up of one of six key archetypes: three yin and three yang.

The Yang Energetic Codes:

• Dramatic

• Aristocrat

• Natural

The Yin Energetic Codes:

• Classic

• Creative

• Romantic

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be unpacking these archetypes in more depth. This is something I guide my clients through during a personalized styling consultation (coming October 27th). This week, let’s talk about all things, Romantic Style Personality.

The Romantic

Sensual Grace. Emotional Depth. Timeless Femininity.

The Romantic embodies the lush, receptive beauty of pure Yin energy—soft, enveloping, and emotionally resonant. Where the Classic seeks harmony in structure and the Dramatic finds power in precision, the Romantic enchants through softness, allure, and a deeply felt presence. Their essence is warm and magnetic, exuding a kind of beauty that feels timeless, tender, and profoundly human.

They don’t command attention—they invite it. Gently, irresistibly, and with undeniable charm.

The Physical Form

Romantics often possess a soft, rounded, or delicate appearance that radiates warmth and intimacy. Their features may be full, symmetrical, and curved—suggestive of a gentle elegance rather than striking contrast. There is an innate sensuality to their presence that feels natural and inviting.

Look for: rounded facial features (plump lips, large eyes, soft cheeks), delicate limbs, an hourglass or curvy figure, and a graceful, flowing posture. Movements are often slow, fluid, and emotionally expressive—there’s an ease to the way they inhabit their space, like poetry in motion.

But as always, it’s not about strict physical traits—it’s about energy. The Romantic glows with softness, emotion, and the quiet power of feeling deeply.

Personality Traits

Romantics are deeply attuned, emotionally intelligent, and innately empathetic. They are driven by connection, beauty, and the desire to create comfort and intimacy in their surroundings. Often highly expressive and relational, they bring warmth to everything they touch—from relationships to personal style.

Romantics are drawn to softness, sensuality, and timeless elegance. They favor clothing that enhances their natural curves and evokes an emotional response—pieces that feel as beautiful as they look. Their style is a celebration of femininity in all its forms: tender, luxurious, and emotionally rich.

Think draping fabrics, soft silhouettes, vintage glamour, and a palette that flows like a love poem. Everything they wear seems to whisper, rather than shout.

Expect to see:

Curved lines and soft silhouettes – wrap dresses, ruched bodices, bias-cut skirts, peplum tops, and fitted waists

Romantic textures – silk, chiffon, velvet, lace, satin, cashmere, and delicate knits
