Today’s Topic: The Personality Styles // Dramatic
This month inside Behind the Drapes, we’re diving deeper into one of my favorite layers of personal style—the energetic code behind how we dress, decorate, and even carry ourselves.
Each of us holds a unique style identity that is deeply rooted in either yin or yang energy. It’s not about gender—it’s about the energetic expression that naturally radiates from you. Your personal style identity is made up of one of six key archetypes: three yin and three yang.
The Yang Energetic Codes:
Dramatic
Aristocrat
Natural
The Yin Energetic Codes:
Classic
Creative
Romantic
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be unpacking these archetypes in more depth. This is something I guide my clients through during a personalized styling consultation (coming very soon!). But for now, let’s begin with the boldest of them all, the Dramatic, which, fun fact, is my Yang side of my Energetic Code:
The Dramatic
Yang of the Yang. Full-Force Energy. Bold by Nature.
The Dramatic is the highest expression of yang energy. Think presence. Power. Command. This is the personality that walks into a room and doesn’t just turn heads—they own the space without saying a word.
The Physical Form
Yes, your personality styling often has to do with the physical form of the person and not just your personality in general. People with Dramatic energy tend to have a strong, sharp physicality—long lines, angular features, and a natural “don’t mess with me” aura. Think tall frames (5’7 and up) because height is Yang energy, defined bone structure, flat cheekbones, a mature or exotic look about them, and a kind of natural elegance that reads editorial even in everyday life.
But remember: it’s not always about height or bone structure. It’s about presence. Even someone petite can exude Dramatic energy when they step into alignment with their true style identity.
Personality Traits
Dramatics are assertive, intentional, and unapologetically themselves. They don’t follow trends—they set them. They are visionaries, direct, often misunderstood, always in forward momentum (think go-go-go type of energy), and deeply magnetic. They are people who understand the power of image; it matters to them. They want to be seen as prestigous and to be seen as the best of the best and to associate themselves with the best of the best.
Style Preferences
Dramatics love structure, statement, and sleek silhouettes. They’re drawn to high contrast, monochrome (especially an all black look), and clean lines. Think power dressing: sharp shoulders, tailored fits, exaggerated cuts, bold details. They want their clothing to have an impact and to have high-quality items in their wardrobe.
Minimalism with impact is key. Nothing fussy, nothing soft or flowy unless it’s balanced with structure or an edge. Accessories? Sculptural or architectural. Or, they may be the type who does not like accessories at all or a lot of “jingly stuff” everywhere. They are someone who prefers the outfit to be the statement and not so much the accessories you add to your outfit. If they use accessories, it’ll be one sculptural, angular, bold piece. For myself, being a Dramatic, I can also attest to the fact that I am not someone who likes a ton of accessories or jewelry.
Colors? Black, white, bold jewel tones (especially Red), metallics—nothing muted unless it’s styled with purpose. They can wear head-to-toe neutrals or go full avant-garde and still feel entirely themselves. Prints & Fabrics that they may often go for are Leather, Vinyl, Pinstripes, Houndstooth, Animal Prints like Zebra Print, Crisp Fabrics, and Metallics.
Home + Environment
A Dramatic’s home reflects their sense of refinement and command. Sleek interiors, bold art, high-contrast palettes, and intentional design choices reign. There's often a sense of curation—every piece feels like a statement. Their home has a lot of open space, looks like it’s barely lived in, and large, square-off furniture.
Even pets can reflect this energy: think regal breeds, sleek coats, and elegant posture. A greyhound. A Siamese cat. A black Great Dane. Or more obscure pets like an Iguana, A Skunk…You get the vibe. In my opinion, most Dramatic’s do not have pets at all. If they do, they’re not the “cuddly” kind, and more topics of conversation.
When the Dramatic Doubts Themselves.
The biggest wound of the Dramatic archetype is feeling like they’re too intense, too opinionated, too much. But this is exactly where their power lives. The Dramatic is not here to shrink. They are here to take up space—and to inspire others to do the same.
When a Dramatic fully owns their identity, they become electric. Their style is a declaration, their presence is unforgettable, and their life? A living work of art.
Next week, we’ll explore The Aristocrat—a softer, more refined kind of yang energy that exudes elegance and timeless sophistication.
If you’re curious about which style personality you align with, stay tuned—my 1:1 consultations are opening soon, and we’ll uncover the energetic blueprint that makes you feel the most you.
Until then, Dramatic queens—don’t dull your shine. The world needs your edge.
💖 Swatch This/Scratch That
Welcome to Swatch This / Scratch That. Your weekly scroll through the glossy, the gaudy, and everything in between. I’m serving a mood board of what’s in… and what’s getting cut out. Let’s go! This week, I’m tapping into the Dramatic Style Personality with its expansive and shadow state sides.
Swatch This:
Subtle Won’t Cut It
Forget blending in. That’s not why you built this.. Your brand should walk into a room and own it, without waiting for permission. Subtle strategy? Quiet confidence? That’s fine for someone else. But you? You were built for presence, not passivity.
Power Dressing Isn’t Just for Photoshoots
You’re not just dressing for the camera — you’re dressing for the room you plan to dominate.
Your wardrobe? It's part of your marketing.
Your presence? A walking billboard for your expertise.
Your color palette? It should make people do a double take.
This isn’t vanity — it’s alignment. When you look like a leader, people treat you like one.
Command attention. Don’t wait to be noticed — design your impact.
That Big Idea? Launch It Loud.
You don’t need more time. You need more nerve. Stop waiting for the perfect strategy, the right feedback, the safer version of your offer.
Dramatic brands don’t tiptoe — they make waves. That idea you’ve been sitting on? Say it. Build it. Launch it. Loud, proud, and fully aligned with the energy you want to attract.
People aren’t bored — they’re just waiting for someone brave enough to be interesting.
Scratch That:
Beige Branding and Even Beiger Messaging
Muted, minimal, and forgettable is not the aesthetic anymore. Especially not for you. That dusty pink Canva template? That all-lowercase brand voice? That “cozy” feed no one can tell apart from 87 other accounts? No. You’re not a background brand — so stop designing like one. You want bold clients? Show up bold.
Playing Nice in a Competitive Space
Let’s be clear: kindness is cool, but performative politeness that dulls your shine? No.
You can clap for others without silencing yourself.
You can share the stage without shrinking.
Enough of:
Over-crediting others to avoid sounding “selfish”
Biting your tongue on the real opinions your audience needs to hear
Acting like you're not already 10 steps ahead
There’s room for everyone, yes — but some of us are just built for the spotlight.\
Waiting for Perfect
Perfectionism is just procrastination dressed in couture.
Still sitting on that brand shoot because one hair was out of place?
Still editing that sales page for the 14th time?
Still not posting because “the lighting wasn’t right”?
The brands that dominate aren’t flawless — they’re fearless.
Stop waiting to be ready. Start showing up like you already are.
🎨 The Color Connection
This week, we’re shifting from the depth and drama of black to the flow and fluidity of analogous color combinations—palettes built from hues that sit side-by-side on the color wheel. Where black brought contrast and power, analogous harmony brings unity, softness, and emotional resonance.
Think of it as color with soulful continuity—a gentle gradient rather than a stark statement. These color families offer visual cohesion that feels natural, easy, and expressive of your seasonal essence.
🌈 What Is Analogous Color Harmony?
Analogous colors are neighbors, sharing undertones and a sense of belonging. Think blue, blue-green, and green, or red, red-orange, and orange. They blend effortlessly, creating a serene, harmonious effect that’s ideal for layered outfits, monochromatic looks with dimension, or tonal styling within your season.
Where complementary colors create contrast, analogous combos create connection.
💫 Why It Matters by Season
Each seasonal palette has its unique energy—some thrive on contrast, others glow in cohesion. Analogous color pairings help express that essence authentically, allowing you to:
Soften the impact of bold hues
Layer colors with effortless elegance
Create a visual flow that feels intuitive and elevated
Let’s explore how each season can use analogous harmony to enhance its natural tone and depth.

Color-blocking that flows instead of clashes
This approach creates visual interest without noise—a perfect balance of intentionality and ease.
